The La Jolla Cove Bridge Club, located within the Ellen Browning Scripps Park at the La Jolla Cove, was built in 1939, a project of the WPA (Works Project Administration). The Riford Room was an addition that was donated by Mrs. Florence Riford. The Club facility once included a shuffleboard court, but that was removed and replaced by lawn, plants, flowers and trees in the mid-1990's.The Club ,sits atop Point La Jolla, adjacent to a world famous open-water swimming and diving venue, the La Jolla Cove.
